Caledon Clinic began offering Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy program in the Spring of 2022.
We are excited to be part of the healing journey for those who struggle with mood disorders and for whom conventional treatments have not provided relief. We are encouraged by the positive outcomes for those we have served so far.
Ketamine is safe, fast, and effective in providing relief. However, the improvement in symptoms can be short-lived for many without proper mental health supports.
Our philosophy:
Ketamine alone is not enough. Mental health support from a trained psychotherapist is essential for long lasting relief along with integrative practices like calm-abiding meditation, yoga and journaling.
What makes our program unique?
Intravenous ketamine treatment is given by our clinic anesthetist, and we offer in-person psychotherapy with our clinic psychotherapist during your ketamine treatments.
The neuroplasticity, “rewire” in the brain from receiving ketamine allows psychotherapy to be most effective when received soon after treatment. Psychotherapy, when received within 24-48 hours after treatment with ketamine, takes advantage of peak neurogenesis and neural plasticity created by ketamine treatment to enhance and maintain new neural pathways and to consolidate the gains achieved.
Therefore, your ketamine treatment creates an optimal situation for you to receive psychotherapy right when you have a session with our clinic psychotherapist. We also provide resources and instruction on how to incorporate calm-abiding meditation, yoga and journaling to further consolidate your healing.
